I've been patronizing this restaurant since the 70's. The food and service have always been spot on! Just had another great dinner there and again the food was delicious!
Horne's is an oasis of great food, nice trinkets and plenty of convenience amidst a sea of chain brand restaurants. Deanna our server was so sweet and very attentive to our needs. We were passing through back to home from a Williamsburg getaway and boy am I glad my husband suggested we stop there. It has a retro diner feel, even down to one of the offered desserts being Pineapple Upside Down cake! If you're a 70's or 80's kid, you are instantly transported back to those parties your parents would throw and someone walk in carrying that and a Jello-O mold. I opted for a the breakfast sandwich with sausage on a croissant and yum! Sorry endocrinologist's office about my upcoming A1-C levels: THEY USE REAL BUTTER! It was so delicious to bite into the croissant, buttered inside and out, cheese that was smooth and creamy and an egg I think a hen only in heaven laid. Just WOW! My husband ordered the chicken and fries. It smelled like my VERY Southern mother's recipe. I have to admit I contemplated putting a sliver onto my sandwich to see how it all ties together like that. Deanna, gal, thanks for the piercing chat in between getting our order to go and being such a great waitress. We will absolutely return and try more delicious food.
Drove 20 minutes out the way just to get my Horne’s love! Total gem of a restaurant! Do yourself a favor for a job well done in life and order a Hershey’s ice cream milkshake. Your guilt will go away after the first sip! Some of the best servers and cooks out there in these parts. Ask for April - she is soooo nice and will make sure you don’t leave hungry!!!
We stopped in here while driving through the area and it was a nice stop! We got some coffee and snacks, and checked out the convenience store area. There's a lot of products and merchandise, and a lot to see. We tried some of the chocolate truffles, and they're very good. We didn't go to the restaurant, so I am not rating that. But the convenience store and such is nice overall!
Take a step back in time. I really enjoyed stopping in Horne’s on my recent business trip. We stopped in here 3 times! Super friendly staff in the dinner and helpful people at the checkout. I love the fact that they have an ice cream counter. So good. They also have some homemade baked goods that my friend really enjoyed!
Food was delicious, service was great, and prices affordable. We had the Deluxe breakfast and Southwest burger with sweet potato fries. Portions were perfect size and service was quick and friendly with no wait time (it was raining, so probably reason it wasn't overly crowded). Deluxe Breakfast was the winner with the sweet potato fries as a close runner-up. We will definitely be back to try the desert and milkshakes (too full to try this time around). Definitely recommend this place with a quirky little souvenir store attached.
Horne's is a must do stop in Port Royal, Virginia. Top of your tank, shop the gift shop, freshen up in the super clean bathrooms, enjoy a takeaway ice cream or sweet treat, or even take the time to sit and enjoy a meal in the local diner. Horne's transports you back to a time when people enjoyed the local flair and chit chat when meeting friends along the counter of the local eatery. Horne's is definitely worth repeated business.
